Privacy and security
This is a private site for one family. Here’s what happens to the information you share.
- Never shared outside the site
- What you add stays here. It is never sold, never shared with other companies, and never used for advertising. The one exception is the optional assistant, explained below.
- Family only
- Only people a family member has approved can see anything. The site is hidden from Google and other search engines, and has no ads or trackers.
- Living people stay private
- For anyone living, their first name, Hebrew name and birth details are only shown to them, their close family, and whoever added them. Everyone else sees only “Living” and the surname.
- DNA stays in your hands
- We only keep what you choose to type in: which company you tested with, your haplogroups, and a GEDmatch kit number. We never ask for or store raw DNA files.
How the site is secured
- Every connection is encrypted (HTTPS), and the database is stored encrypted.
- There are no passwords to steal. You sign in with a one-time link or code sent to your email.
- The privacy rules above are enforced by the database itself, not just the website, so a person who isn’t approved can’t read the data even by going around the site.
- Every change to a person is recorded with who made it, and can be undone.
- The site runs on Vercel and the data is kept with Supabase, both widely used, professionally run services.
Good to know
- Approved family members can see what’s shared with them, so only add what you’re happy for family to see.
- The “Ask the family” assistant and “Draw a random life” use open-source AI models run by Groq. When you use them, your question and the parts of the tree needed to answer it (only what you’re already allowed to see) are sent to Groq to be processed. Groq’s terms don’t allow it to train on this, and it doesn’t keep it. “Draw a random life” only ever sends details of people who have died. Nothing is sent unless you use one of these.
- You can ask for your account and your details to be removed at any time.
